Overall, Saemaeul Sikdang is praised for quality food, accessibility, and a genuine Korean BBQ atmosphere.
Open super late and they are helpful with foreigners, i.e fools like me who don't know how to use a Korean BBQ properly. The staff was really generous with advising how long to cook the meats and how best to use each of the dishes provided. This was not a tourist-heavy part of town, at least while I was there, so if you're traveling alone you'll appreciate the help. Also, they accept credit cards, prices are reasonable, and the restaurant is easy to find - behind the Burger King / McDonald's when you get off at Sinchon subway station.
It's my first time to have eaten Korea style BBQ and It's a little bit different from Taiwan but the taste is quite savory. They are pork intestine, which I showed photos. You have to wrap pork intestine with sauce in special leaves. If you are crazy about spicy , you may love this country. My friend highly recommend this restaurant.
Saemaeulsikdang is open 24/7! So if your looking for a place to eat in the morning, this is the place to go. The menu isn’t huge since it is a bbq restaurant but does have some dishes to choose from also! Food came out fast, thou thou the 7 minute pork kimchi stew came out a little later, (probably around 7 minutes or so)ㅋㅋㅋㅋ! The meat was great, no smoke issues at all, the kimchi stew came hot and very tasty, like the menu says “recommended” I would agree! Along the wall are autographs of famous people who has visited the place and I sat right in front of Crown J, how awesome is that! Located in a great location, easy to get to by subway and right down the street from Hongdae shopping street is!
Hidden gem. Super value for money. Unlimited fresh perilla leaves. Their pork jowl is fresh and it shoes through the taste.
Open 24/7. Famous for their BBQ and 7 minutes kimchi soup served with side dishes, seaweed, and rice. Also have fresh vegetable for anyone who order BBQ. Since they open all times, so you can go there even though you're a solo traveller if it's not the peak time of the day. Good for going with family and friends as well.
We tried the pork outer neck, pork belly or samgyupsal, then the pork neck. Those three were the tasty ones, the bulgogi wasnt that great, and i saw other people ordering a fried rice with seaweed flakes on top. Overall it was a good dinner.
The food was so brilliant as previous comment said Staff was really nice, patient and helpful :) foreigner friendly
